The Nature Lovers Student Activity Unit (UKM-PA) Barracuda of the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences, Universitas Syiah Kuala, successfully organized the 15th Mountain Climbing Consolidation Program<\/strong> from July 10\u201315, 2026<\/strong>. The program reflects the organization’s ongoing commitment to strengthening its members’ technical competence, physical and mental preparedness, and environmental ethics through comprehensive mountain climbing training.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The program was led by Hilma Nabilah<\/strong> as the Chairperson of the Organizing Committee, with M. Iqbal<\/strong> serving as the Team Leader. Muhammad Nur Mizan<\/strong> acted as the Trail Opener (Tebaster), while Wilda Safitri<\/strong> served as the Navigator and M. Iqbal<\/strong> as the Co-Navigator, ensuring effective route planning and field navigation. Hilma Nabilah<\/strong> also took on the role of Sweeper, Wilda Safitri<\/strong> was responsible for Logistics, and M. Iqbal<\/strong> managed the expedition equipment. The program was further supported by the organization’s executive members, Jihan Hanifah<\/strong> and Cut Rezky Azaky<\/strong>, who assisted in coordinating and facilitating the overall implementation of the activities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The consolidation program was conducted in the Gle Bae, Gle Gohdua, and Gle Sijuk<\/strong> areas of Aceh Besar, combining classroom instruction with hands-on field practice. Participants received intensive training in mountain travel techniques, land navigation, expedition planning and management, the proper use and maintenance of climbing equipment, ropework techniques, safety procedures, and risk management in the wilderness. Each training session was supervised by experienced instructors and senior members, allowing participants to apply the knowledge and techniques they had learned in real outdoor environments.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Beyond enhancing technical skills, the program emphasized the development of essential personal values, including discipline, responsibility, leadership, teamwork, resilience, and environmental stewardship. Through a variety of field challenges and collaborative activities, participants were encouraged to strengthen their decision-making abilities while fostering solidarity and mutual support within the team.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The program also contributes to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs)<\/strong>, particularly SDG 3: Good Health and Well-being<\/strong>, by promoting healthy outdoor activities and physical resilience; SDG 4: Quality Education<\/strong>, through experiential learning and practical mountain climbing education; and SDG 15: Life on Land<\/strong>, by encouraging responsible interaction with nature and raising awareness of environmental conservation throughout outdoor expeditions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Through the 15th Mountain Climbing Consolidation Program<\/strong>, UKM-PA Barracuda reaffirms its commitment to developing competent, disciplined, and environmentally conscious mountaineers. The knowledge, technical skills, and character cultivated throughout the program are expected to prepare participants for future organizational activities while inspiring them to become responsible nature enthusiasts dedicated to protecting and preserving Indonesia’s mountain ecosystems.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
