This scholarship aims to support the availability of Indonesian human resources who are educated and qualified and have a high leadership spirit and have a strong vision of the nation’s future as future Indonesian leaders. LPDP’s commitment is realized through providing funding assistance in the form of scholarships to the community for further study in master’s or doctoral programs at leading universities both at home and abroad for those who meet LPDP qualifications.

The target applicants for the BPI Masters and Doctoral Program are Indonesian citizens (WNI) who have superior academic abilities and a strong leadership spirit and wish to carry out further studies in a master’s or doctoral program at LPDP target universities in either the same or different fields of science. with the field of science at the previous level of education. The targets of the BPI Masters and Doctoral Program fields of science, according to priority, are as follows:

  • technical field,
  • field of science,
  • agricultural sector,
  • medical/health sector,
  • accounting/finance sector,
  • legal field,
  • religious field,
  • social sector,
  • economics,
  • culture/language field,
  • other fields.
  1. Applicant Requirements

Requirements for BPI applicants for master’s or doctoral programs are outlined in the following general requirements and special requirements.

General Requirements

Scholarship applicants for further study in master’s and doctoral programs are those who meet the following conditions:

  1. Indonesian Citizen
  2. have completed undergraduate or master’s program studies from:
    • domestic higher education institutions that have been accredited by the National Accreditation Board for Higher Education (BAN-PT), or
    • domestic service colleges, or
    • overseas universities that have been registered with the Directorate General of Higher Education, Ministry of Education and Culture of the Republic of Indonesia,
  3. have a spirit of leadership, integrity, idealism and nationalism,
  4. active in social activities,
  5. willing to sign a statement stating that the applicant
    • not currently receiving/will receive scholarships from other sources,
    • will never/will be involved in any unlawful activity/action,
    • never/will be involved in activities/actions that violate the Academic code of ethics,
    • always serve the interests of the Indonesian nation,
    • always loyal to the Unitary State of the Republic of Indonesia,
    • able to fulfill the scholarship conditions set by the LPDP,
  6. have obtained permission from superiors for those who are working,
  7. have received recommendations from community leaders for those who have not/are not working, or recommendations from superiors for those who are currently working,
  8. have and choose a scientific field that is in accordance with the scientific field targeted by the LPDP,
  9. choose a study program and college that is in accordance with LPDP provisions,
  10. Wrote an essay on the theme “My Role for Indonesia” and “The Greatest Success in My Life”.

Special Requirements

Scholarship applicants for further study in master’s and doctoral programs are those who meet the following conditions.

  1. For master’s program scholarship applicants
    • The maximum age at the time of selection is 35 (thirty five) years,
    • have completed studies in an applied undergraduate/graduate program,
    • have a minimum cumulative grade point average (GPA) of 3.00 on a scale of 4, or an equivalent GPA for other scales,
    • able to complete master’s program studies according to the applicable study period, a maximum of 2 (two) years,
    • have an official document of proof of mastery of English issued by ETS (www.ets.org) or IELTS (www.ielts.org) that is still valid or another foreign language determined by the LPDP:
      1. For domestic master’s program studies, minimum score: TOEFL ITP® 500/iBT® 61/IELTS™ 6.0/TOEIC® 600;
      2. To study a master’s program abroad, minimum score: TOEFL ITP® 550/iBT® 79/IELTS™ 6.5/TOEIC® 750;
      3. Points a) and b) are excluded for those who completed higher education from: United States, United Kingdom, Ireland, Australia, New Zealand or Canada. Duplicate diplomas are used as a substitute for TOEFL requirements, with a validity period of 2 (two) years from the issuance of the diploma;
      4. For master’s program studies abroad at universities where the academic language of instruction is non-English, you can adjust to the applicable language proficiency requirements (a list of minimum foreign language competency requirements other than English is attached);
    • have a Letter of Acceptance at the destination university with unconditional status (if any),
    • have official TPA/GRE/GMAT/LSAT documents (if any),
    • write a study plan according to the master’s study program at the target university.
  2. For doctoral program scholarship applicants
    • The maximum age of applicants at the time registration closes is 40 (forty) years;
    • have completed studies in a master’s/applied master’s program;
    • Have a minimum cumulative grade point average (GPA) of 3.25 on a scale of 4, or an equivalent GPA for other scales;
    • able to complete doctoral studies according to the applicable study period, a maximum of 4 (four) years;
    • have an official document (ets.org or ielts.org) that is still valid as proof of mastery of English or another foreign language determined by the LPDP:
      1. For domestic doctoral program studies, minimum score: TOEFL ITP® 500/iBT® 61/IELTS™ 6.0/TOEIC® 600;
      2. For doctoral program studies abroad, minimum score: TOEFL ITP® 550/iBT® 79/IELTS™ 6.5/TOEIC® 750;
      3. Points a) and b) are excluded for those who completed higher education from: United States, United Kingdom, Ireland, Australia, New Zealand or Canada.     • have a Letter of Acceptance at the destination university with unconditional status (if any),
    • have official TPA/GRE/GMAT/LSAT documents (if any),
    • write a summary of the research proposal according to the doctoral study program at the target university.
  1. Cost Components

To support the smoothness and success of further studies in the master’s or doctoral program at the target university, recipients of the Indonesian Education Scholarship are provided with educational financial assistance which includes the following components.

  1. Education Fees:
    • Registration (at cost);
    • SPP, including non-language matriculation (at cost);
    • Non-SPP, which can be used for book allowances, theses/dissertations, seminars, publications, graduations (package, per year, accumulative).
  2. Support Fees:
    • Transportation for study departure and return from the place of residence to the destination university (one time, at cost),
    • Health insurance (package),
    • Visa (at cost),
    • Monthly living allowance (package),
    • Family allowance (package),
    • Arrival/settlement allowance (package),
    • Incentives for ranking superior universities that meet LPDP requirements
    • Emergency/force majeure conditions approved by the LPDP.

Registration Time

BPI registration for Masters and Doctoral Programs is open throughout the year, with a selection process carried out 4 (four) times (download the registration and selection schedule here).

For applicants who already have a LoA, the lecture date starts no sooner than 6 months after the registration closing date.
