Banda Aceh – The Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences (FMIPA) succeeded in winning the overall championship in the 15th Musabaqah Tilawatil Qur’an (MTQ) competition at the Syiah Kuala University (Unsyiah) level in 2016. This was conveyed by the MTQ committee at the closing of the event at the Jamik Mosque Unsyiah Campus, Sunday (6/11). The MTQ, which took place from 4-6 November 2016, was closed by the Deputy Chancellor III for Alumni and Student Affairs, Dr. Ir. Alfiansyah Yulianur, BC.

Secretary of the MTQ Unsyiah Board of Judges, Ustaz Zamakhsyari SHI in his report said that the first overall winner went to FMIPA, the second overall winner was won by the Faculty of Teacher Training and Education (FKIP), and the third overall winner was the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine (FKH).

“The Hifzhil Qur’an is divided into 3 categories, namely Hifzhil Qur’an 1 Juz, Hifzhil Qur’an 5 juz, and Hifzhil Qur’an 10 juz. “Almost all competitions are divided into men’s and women’s teams,” said Ustaz Zamakhsyari.

Meanwhile, WR III Unsyiah in his speech hoped that the results of this competition would be truly optimal. Congratulations to FMIPA who succeeded in winning the overall championship. God willing, Unsyiah will continue to promote religious activities as a means of da’wah.

“But don’t forget, next year Unsyiah will face the National Student MTQ held by Brawijaya University (UB) and Malang State University (UNM),” he said.

He said, next year Unsyiah must win the overall championship. The problem is that in 2015 Unsyiah won second place in the National Student MTQ at the University of Indonesia (UI) Jakarta. So, it is not an exaggeration that Unsyiah hopes that in 2017 it will be able to win the overall national championship.

“The Chancellor of Unsyiah also advised that after taking part in the MTQ competition in Malang, we must submit an application for Unsyiah to host the National Student MTQ in 2019,” he said.

According to Dr Alfian, if Unsyiah succeeds in coming out as first winner, then it is very likely that Unsyiah can host MTQ in 2019. Apart from that, Unsyiah has also successfully held national activities such as the 2015 National Student Sports Week (POMNAS).

On this occasion, trophies were also handed over to the MTQ champions. Witnessed by deans and deputy deans, bureau heads, and Unsyiah MTQ participants.
