Pharmacy Study Program (S1) Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences (FMIPA) Syiah Kuala University (Unsyiah) succeeded in obtaining accreditation scores B from the Independent Accreditation Institute for Health Universities (LAMPTKES). This confirmation was obtained after the Pharmacy Study Program received a Decree from the accreditation agency yesterday (Tuesday, 15/5). The decision letter was signed directly by the head of the institution, Prof. Dr. Usman Chatib Warsa, Sp, MK., PhD. This, stated that the Unsyiah Pharmacy Study Program was determined to obtain an accreditation score of 337 (B) as of May 5 2018. In contrast to other study programs at FMIPA which are accredited by the National Accreditation Board for Higher Education (BAN-PT), the Pharmacy study program is one of the study programs accredited by LAMPTKES, because it is connected to the health sciences family. The LAMPTKES accreditation team visited the Unsyiah Pharmacy Study Program on April 16-18, after receiving the accreditation form from the study program. This year, the FMIPA Unsyiah Pharmacy Study Program is the study program with the highest level of competition in all of Indonesia for the National State University Entrance Selection (SNMPTN) route, where 107 applicants compete for one seat. Meanwhile, in other entry routes, such as the Joint Selection for Entrance to State Universities (SBMPTN), this study program is one of the most favored by prospective students. The Unsyiah Pharmacy Study Program was founded in 2011 as an effort to anticipate the large need for pharmaceutical and health service workers in Aceh Province, especially pharmacists, whose numbers are still small or far from sufficient. The Unsyiah Pharmacy Study Program is projected to develop itself into a Faculty of Pharmacy in 2025. Dean of FMIPA Unsyiah, Dr TM Iqbalsyah M Sc said that the number and distribution of pharmacists in Indonesia is currently still far from sufficient to properly support services and protect the health of the Indonesian people. One of the reasons for the presence of the Pharmacy Study Program at Unsyiah is to answer this problem. “This B accreditation score is important capital for us to immediately open the Pharmacist Professional Study Program (PSPA) at Unsyiah. “God willing, next year this will be realized, so that the odd semester 2018/2019 can accept professional students,” said Iqbalsyah. The Curriculum for the Undergraduate Pharmacy Program currently implemented is a Competency-Based Curriculum, which is distributed in groups of interest areas of Natural Materials Science and Pharmacy as well as Clinical and Community Pharmacy, and scientific field groups (peer groups) namely Pharmaceutical Biology, Pharmaceutical Chemistry, Pharmaceutical Pharmacology, and Technology Pharmacy.(i’m) ]]>
