Students from the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences (FMIPA) of Syiah Kuala University (Unsyiah) again made Aceh proud in the English Debate Competition held at the Grand Nanggroe Hotel, Banda Aceh. This event was held for 3 days, namely April 8-10 2019. The team consisting of Dini Satriana (student of the Chemistry Department, FMIPA Unsyiah) and Diva Rayyan Riski (student of the Unsyiah Faculty of Medicine) succeeded in getting first place in the National University Debating Championship competition ( NUDC) in the Region III Higher Education Service Institution (LLDIKTI XIII) in 2019.
Unsyiah won first place in the NUDC Region after defeating 4 debater teams in the grand final round from Al Muslim University, Lhokseumawe State Polytechnic, Malikussaleh University (UNIMAL) and Samudra University (UNSAM). Dini Satriana, when interviewed on Wednesday (10/4/20) said that this competition was held to select the best debate teams from all Universities (PT) within the LLDIKTI XIII environment.
“The six best teams will become delegates for LLDIKTI In this competition, each team must go through 3 Preliminary Rounds. The 16 teams with the highest Victory Points from each Preliminary Round will advance to the Quarterfinal Round. Next, the 8 best teams will advance to the Semifinal Round, and the 4 best teams will compete again in the Final Round. Dini also said that in each round, a motion will be given which will be debated, with assessments based on Matter, Manner and Method. The following 6 best teams will become NUDC delegates at the National level which will be held in Surabaya on 14-19 July 2019: 1st place: Unsyiah, 2nd place: Al Muslim University, 3rd place: Lhokseumawe State Polytechnic, 1st runner-up: Unimal, Champion 2nd hope: Unsam, 3rd place winner: STKIP BBG.
Apart from NUDC, Dini Satriana has also participated in and won several debate competitions such as first place in ULF Indonesian language debate, third place in Dakwah Expo English debate, semifinalist in Cimsa Debate Open 2018, semifinalist in Aceh Debating League, Finalist in Sumatra Overland Debate (SOVED) and several competitions another debate.
