In connection with commemorating Disaster Preparedness Day, the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences carries out disaster simulation activities and evacuation drills. Friday, April 26 2019 in the New FMIPA Building Yard, with the theme “READY TO SURVIVE” received a positive response from the dean and students.
This activity aims to increase knowledge about disasters, train us so that when a disaster occurs not to panic and rush, let alone use the elevator if it is on the top floor. Follow the evacuation route out of the building using the emergency stairs and gather at the yard meeting point.

“This is important knowledge, we are taught directly about disaster evacuation which usually occurs frequently, especially since Aceh is a disaster-prone zone. Initially we had an Environmental Disaster Education course. Now, now we practice directly in the field,” said one of the students we met when we finished. activity.
Initially gathered on the 3rd floor, then when the first alarm was sounded, a sign of disaster, they went down using the stairs without anyone running. The simulation carried out simulated earthquake, tsunami and fire disaster preparedness.
During the fire test, Mr. Angga, as Head of the Fire Fighting Team, taught how to use a light fire extinguisher.
“When you want to spray it, please be 2m from the fire and spray in the direction of the wind,” said Mr. Angga while practicing how to spray it. He also appreciated this activity because it could also help the fire brigade when they were on the way.
Dr. TM Iqbalsyah as Dean of the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences appealed to all students and also deans so that if a disaster occurs they can apply what has been taught today and smokers must be careful not to be careless again.
“So the approach has been changed, first it was curative, now it is preventive. We are asked to be more aware at the beginning rather than after the incident and this is indeed a national program.”
So, when a disaster occurs, don’t just think about your own safety and end up becoming a victim, but we also have to follow good etiquette when there is a disaster, don’t use the elevator to be quick, we have emergency stairs and there are evacuation directions if there is a disaster.
