A total of 597 new students from the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences (FMIPA) Syiah Kuala University (Unsyiah) again took part in the 2019 Academic and Character Development activities for New Students (Pakarmaru). This started with the opening of the Open Meeting by the Dean of FMIPA and Members of the FMIPA Unsyiah Senate.

Pakarmaru activities which took place from 30-31 August 2019 and involved hundreds of D3 and S1 students from 9 departments at FMIPA were centered in the new Auditorium Building of FMIPA Unsyiah, Darussalam, Banda Aceh for first time

This event was attended by the Dean of FMIPA Unsyiah, Dr. Teuku Mohammad Iqbalsyah, M.Sc, Deputy Dean I (WD I) FMIPA Unsyiah, Dr. Zumaidar, S.Si, M.Si, Deputy Dean for Student and Alumni Affairs (WD III) FMIPA Unsyiah, Dr. rer. nat Ilham Maulana, S.Si, Alumni of FMIPA Unsyiah, Chair of BEM FMIPA Unsyiah, as well as all Departmental Student Associations at FMIPA Unsyiah.

Dean of FMIPA Unsyiah, Dr. Teuku Mohammad Iqbalsyah, M.Sc, in his speech said that this activity was part of introducing Unsyiah, especially FMIPA.

“This activity really helps students in providing understanding, especially regarding the lecture process and building good character for new students,” continued the Dean.

This year’s Pakarmaru series was implemented in stages at university, faculty and department levels. It started at the university level which was held in the courtyard of the Kopelma Jami’ Mosque, Darussalam, Banda Aceh on August 29 2019. And was held again at the same place on September 1 2019. This activity was attended by 6400 D3 and S1 students from 12 faculties in Unsyiah.

The Open Session and Pakarmaru activities were also enlivened by the appearance of artistic attractions from the Seuramo Arts Student Activity Unit (UKM) FMIPA Unsyiah.
