The new Chair of the BEM of the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences (FMIPA) of Syiah Kuala University (USK), M. Farhan Perwira, was officially appointed as General Chair of the BEM of FMIPA for the 2021 period by the Dean of the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences , Dr. T. M Iqbalsyah, M.Sc. replacing the previous BEM chairman, namely Putra Hidayatullah. This inauguration event was held in the Hall Corridor of the New Building of the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences on Wednesday (10/3). The event was also attended by the Deputy Chancellor III for Student and Alumni Affairs, Dr. Ir. Alfiansyah Yulianur BC, Deputy Dean III for Student and Alumni Affairs, Dr. rer. Nat. Ilham Maulana, S.Si, as well as other important officials. Meanwhile, the Ormawa administrators who were present in person were only the new chairman and the old chairman, while all other administrators took part in the inauguration ceremony via Zoom and YouTube.
Farhan, who is an undergraduate student in the Statistics Study Program class of 2017, was elected through the PEMIRA (General Election) route which was held in mid-December last year. Different from the previous pemira, this time the pemira was carried out through the e-pemira application developed by the USK ICT UPT.

On the same occasion, the Student Representative Council (DPM) FMIPA and the Student Activity Unit (UKM) FMIPA Unsyiah were also inaugurated, namely the Barracuda Nature Lovers Student UKM chaired by Yusliana, the Seuramoe Art UKM chaired by Oka Danu Ramadhan Syahputra, and the LDF Ulul UKM Albab chaired by M. Wafi Ahlami.
Dean of FMIPA, Dr. TM Iqbalsyah, M.Sc in his speech expressed his gratitude to the 2020 management and wished the new 2021 management good luck working. According to Iqbal, several work programs in the previous management that had been planned were prevented from being implemented due to COVID-19 and this will also be the same challenges for the administrators in 2021, therefore, he hopes that students will be more creative in seeing opportunities to continue their activities.
“The BEM, DPM and UKM management in 2021 are expected to be able to modify work programs according to the current COVID-19 conditions,” continued Iqbal, who is also a lecturer at the USK FMIPA Chemistry Department.
Meanwhile, vice chancellor III, Dr. Ir. Alfiansyah Yulianur BC in his speech also hoped that students would achieve more at the national level.
“To the organization’s administrators in 2021, it is hoped that they will be able to create new work programs that have not been thought of and also have new activities at the national level. Make sure that every activity can be carried out online and at a national level,” said Deputy Chancellor III in his speech. (fd/im)
