KBRN, Banda Aceh: Founder and President Director of Binar Academy Alamanda Shantika Santoso conveyed her experience when she entered the world of startups, to educate Syiah Kuala University students so that motivated to enter the world of creative industry.
He conveyed this when he was a speaker at the 2022 National Statistics Explore Seminar in the Hall of the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences, Banda Aceh, Monday (26/09/2022).
For your information, Alamanda is one of the Gojek application designers. He was asked by Nadiem Makarim to create the Gojek application, which is the first mobile application in Indonesia. Thanks to its innovation, Gojek is able to develop rapidly. Binar Academy is an educational startup that he pioneered, which currently has 600 thousand users.
Alamanda explained, before intending to build a startup, it is very important to first explore yourself. So that the application built is not just an idea but has a clear vision.
He gave an example of how the reason for establishing Binar Academy was not in Jakarta but in Jogjakarta. Because he believes it is important to encourage economic growth in Indonesian cities other than Jakarta. Apart from that, he acknowledged the gap in access to information that Jakarta children get compared to other areas.
“That’s where the ideal emerged, there must be equal opportunity for Indonesian children to get information and education,” he said.
For this reason, at Binar Academy the focus of learning is improving digital skills, which are important competencies for entering the startup world.
Next, Alamanda revealed the importance of building a network. He gave an example of when he built a fashion community on the Kaskus forum, which encouraged the birth of many local brands. From there, many offers to create websites came to him.
Another important thing to study is neuroscience, which is to study human habits. This is what underlies him when designing the go food application, where he discovered the fact that humans don’t like to go through many stages to get something.
“So we study human behavior, and answer people’s desires,” he said.
Then he considered that a clear vision and goals were also very important. For example, Gojek, which was born to provide a broad social impact on society.
“So apart from ideas, we must have a strong vision and strong purpose. “It is with that principle that we can survive,” he said.
Meanwhile USK Chancellor Prof. Dr. Ir. Marwan expressed his gratitude for Alamanda’s willingness to share his knowledge with students. This also includes five USK students who successfully passed the Micro Credentials program at Binar Academy. Because this is very much in line with USK’s commitment to encouraging its students to enter the world of entrepreneurship.
“Because we want USK students to be able to create job opportunities, not only for themselves but to be able to help other people,” concluded the Chancellor.
