FMIPA USK Establishes Collaboration with SEAMEO BIOTROP


The Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences (FMIPA) Syiah Kuala University has entered into a cooperation agreement (PKS) with SEAMEO BIOTROP (Southeast Asian Regional Center for Tropical Biology) which is a regional institution under the structure of the Secretariat General of the Ministry Education, Culture, Research and Technology of the Republic of Indonesia (Secretary General of the Ministry of Education and Culture) which operates in the fields of research, training, dissemination of scientific information and community empowerment activities in the field of tropical biology and is one of 26 institutions or centers under the coordination of the Organization of Ministers of Education throughout Southeast Asia (Southeast Asian Ministers of Education Organization – SEAMEO).

This agreement was marked by the signing of the PKS by the Dean of FMIPA USK Prof. Dr. Teuku Mohamad Iqbalsyah, S.Si, M.Sc together with Zulhamsyah Imran, S.Pi, M.Si, Ph.D as (Director of SEAMEO Biotrop, Indonesia) witnessed by USK Vice Chancellor IV, Dr. Ir. Taufiq Saidi, M.Eng, IPU at AAC Dayan Dawood. (Banda Aceh, Wednesday (26/10/2022).

This cooperation agreement is within the framework of implementing the Tri Dharma of Higher Education and the Independent Campus Learning Policy (MBKM), which includes: Development and implementation of the MBKM program; Research, innovation and technology development; Community service; Exchange and collaboration of experts in learning and curriculum development; Exchange of information, development of databases and knowledge resources on tropical biodiversity in the flora and fauna sector; and Utilization of educational facilities and infrastructure.

The signing of the PKS was carried out at the same time as the opening of the International Conference on Fisheries and Environmental Sciences (ICFAES). The scientific conference initiated by the Faculty of Maritime Affairs and Fisheries (FKP) was attended by dozens of researchers and lecturers from within and outside the country. This activity took place at AAC Dayan Dawood.

Dean of USK FKP, Prof. Dr. Muchlisin ZA, S.Pi, M.Sc said, ICFAES is an annual agenda for FKP. At the 4th ICFAES in 2022, the party will carry the theme: ‘Strengthening Research, Innovation, and Collaboration Towards Blue Transformation‘.
