Syiah Kuala University (USK) now has a Statistics Corner in the local campus library. This Statistics Corner exists thanks to collaboration between USK and the Central Statistics Agency (BPS). The inauguration took place on Wednesday 26 October 2022.
USK Vice Chancellor I, Prof. Dr. Ir. Agussabti, M.Si, Dean of FMIPA USK Prof. Dr. Teuku Mohamad Iqbalsyah, , M.Sc, Main Secretary of BPS RI, Ir. Atqo Mardiyanto, M.Si and Head of BPS Aceh, Dr. Ahmadriswan Nasution, S.Si, MT jointly inaugurated the Statistics Corner at the USK Library.
“The Statistics Corner is very useful in presenting quantitative and qualitative data. This is proof of real collaboration between USK and BPS,” said Prof Agussabti.
The presence of the Statistics Corner at USK will be maximized as best as possible. The Statistics Science Study Program is the spearhead in the Statistics Corner data service at USK. The presence of the Statistics Ambassador is at the forefront in serving students, researchers and any party who will deal with data.
“The Statistics Corner will certainly always provide updated and sustainable data. Data is a necessity as well as a basis for making decisions for progressive development,” explained WR I.
Meanwhile, the Main Secretary of BPS RI, Ir. Atqo Mardiyanto, M.Si is grateful for the collaboration. He emphasized that the presence of the Statistics Corner must really function and not just exist.
“Hopefully the Statistics Corner will be useful for USK. We hope it will not only be busy at the inauguration, but also sustainable,” said Atqo.
He suggested that the Statistics Corner should continue to live, at least once a month there would be activities. Such as collaborative discussions or lectures by BPS representatives in the Statistics Corner.
“It’s good to have representatives from BPS, so that the function of the Statistics Corner is not only to provide data, but also to be useful in consultations. Sometimes, consultations are more enlightening than just reading data,” explained the Main Secretary of BPS RI.
Apart from the inauguration of the Statistics Corner, this activity also included a public lecture. ‘The Role of Campuses in Alleviating Poverty’ is the theme discussed.
