USK FMIPA Pharmacist Professional Study Program Collaborates with Well-Known Industry for Practice Locations

The Pharmacist Professional Education Study Program (PSPPA) Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences (FMIPA) Syiah Kuala University (USK) collaborates with four well-known pharmaceutical industries and the Indonesian Army Pharmacy Institute to carry out the professional practical work process for its students. This was conveyed by the Chair of the USK FMIPA Pharmacy Department, Tedy Kurniawan Bakri, M.Sc., Apt. at the USK FMIPA Pharmacy Department on Thursday (8/6). The four pharmaceutical industries are PT. Kimia Farma Industri, PT. Guardian Pharmathama, PT. Boehringer Ingelheim, and PT. Bayer Indonesia.

PSPPA officially obtained operational permits on August 22 2022, and began accepting its first batch of students on December 14 2022. A total of 40 PSPPA students are currently completing their practice at hospitals, health centers, pharmacies and drug distributors. Next, they will continue their professional practice as pharmacists in the pharmaceutical industry. The learning method at PSPPA is full practice, both in semester one and semester two. Students will carry out practicums in various different institutions, from hospitals to the pharmaceutical industry.

“Thank God, we are currently in the first accreditation application stage. “God willing, in December the accreditation scores will be out, so that these first generation pharmacist graduates will be recorded with these accreditation scores,” said Tedy.

Previously, the USK FMIPA Undergraduate Study Program (Prodi) had also officially obtained a superior accreditation score from the Independent Accreditation Institute for Higher Education in the Health Sector (LAMPTKes). The decision regarding the achievement of accreditation scores for the USK Pharmacy Study Program was actually submitted by LAMPTKes since last March. Previously, the USK Pharmacy Study Program had been assessed by two LAMPTKes assessors on 21-23 February 2023. The field assessment was carried out to confirm the suitability of the data written in the accreditation boring with the reality in the field.

Several aspects of the assessment include service quality, learning processes, completeness of infrastructure, and human resources. Mrs. Lidya Septa Desiyana, M.Si., Apt as Chair of the USK Pharmacy Department during the LAMPTKes visitation, said that this accreditation process has been going on since last year, starting with the formation of a team to prepare accreditation borings and collect data and write borings.

USK’s FMIPA as a whole has 15 study programs. Four of them are Masters Programs, Seven Bachelor Programs, One Professional Education Program, and two diploma programs. A total of six study programs have excellent accreditation, two study programs have A accreditation, two study programs have excellent accreditation, three study programs have B accreditation, and two new study programs are currently being proposed for accreditation scores.
