Banda Aceh, 21 February 2024- In a progressive step to expand the cooperation network, FMIPA-USK (Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences) and SDE (School of Distance Education) Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM) and unite steps to explore the potential for mutually beneficial collaboration. This decision is a manifestation of the collaborative spirit between two institutions that have a vision to improve the quality of education and research in Indonesia and Malaysia.
Through the WEBEX platform, these two institutions held an important meeting with the aim of exploring opportunities for more intense cooperation. Assoc. Prof. Dr. Zulnaidi Yaacob, as Dean of SDE USM, and Prof. Dr. Taufik Fuadi Abidin, S.Si, M.Tech as Dean of FMIPA UNSYIAH, gave a warm welcome and commitment to strengthening cooperation between the two institutions.
The Program Chairs from SDE USM presented various potential collaborations that could be explored in the fields of Mathematics, Chemistry, Physics and Biology. They highlight the possibilities for collaboration that could involve joint research, exchange of academic experiences, as well as innovative curriculum development.
On the other hand, FMIPA-USK also provides a comprehensive overview of the potential of their faculty. With full confidence, they expressed their willingness to collaborate on relevant research projects, as well as opening up opportunities for student and lecturer exchanges between the two institutions.
FMIPA UNSYIAH was represented by a number of leaders, Prof. Dr. Taufik Fuadi Abidin (Dean), Dr. Nasrullah Zaini, M.Sc (Deputy Dean I), Dr. Muhammad Subianto, S.Si., M.Si (Deputy Dean II), Dr. Ir. Wira Dharma, S.Si., MP, M.Si, (Plt. Deputy Dean III) and other members. Meanwhile, the delegation from SDE USM who attended included Assoc. Prof. Dr. Zulnaidi Yaacob (Dean), Dr. Hazrul Abdul Hamid (Deputy Dean of Academic, Career and International), Dr. Sumiyyah Sabar (Deputy Dean of Research, Innovation & Industry-Community Engagement), En Mohd. Rashid Abdul Rejab (Deputy Registrar), and related staff.
This collaboration is aimed at exploring various opportunities in the areas of joint research projects, student exchange programs, as well as faculty development initiatives. It is hoped that the results of this meeting will lead to the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MOA) in the near future, which will strengthen this collaboration in a more structured framework.
It is hoped that this collaboration will make a significant contribution to the development of science and education in both countries, as well as give rise to new innovations and a superior intellectual generation.
