
Banda Aceh, 22 February 2024- The Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences (FMIPA) Syiah Kuala University (USK) achieved another achievement by successfully graduating a number of alumni in the fields of Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Informatics, Statistics and Pharmacy.
In his speech, the Dean of FMIPA-USK Prof. Dr. Taufik Fuadi Abidin, S.Si, M.Tech delivered an inspiring message, “As Millennial Generation (Postgraduate Programs) and Generation Z (Undergraduate and Diploma Programs) born between 1997 and 2021, we are in the Demographic Bonus period which is taking place in Indonesia from 2020 to 2040.” He emphasized the importance of taking advantage of this momentum to push Indonesia towards becoming a respected developed country. For example, South Korea has succeeded in exploiting the demographic bonus to achieve developed country status.
One of the students who graduated successfully was Muhammad Mulqan, who now serves as CEO of Twibbonize.com. This platform allows users to create and share twibbons or images that can be added to profile photos to support a particular campaign, activity or celebration. “Through his success story, Mulqan inspired many people with his struggle in founding Twibbonize,” he concluded.
In the period November 2023 to January 2024, FMIPA-USK succeeded in graduating 111 alumni. The details are as follows:
- Postgraduate Program: 11 graduates with an average GPA of 3.86 and an average study period of 1 year 6 months. As many as 82% graduated with the judicial distinction of Praise.
- Undergraduate Program: 93 graduates with an average GPA of 3.40 and an average study period of 4 years 3 months. Of them, 19% graduated with a judicial distinction of Praise, 66% with a distinction of Very Satisfactory, and 15% with a distinction of Satisfactory.
- Diploma III Program: 7 graduates with an average GPA of 3.59 and an average study period of 3 years 6 months. As many as 86% passed with a judicial predicate of Very Satisfactory.
This success shows FMIPA-USK’s commitment to producing quality graduates who are ready to compete in the world of work and in various academic domains. It is hoped that this achievement will continue to have a positive impact on the development of science and technology in Indonesia.
