
The Rector of Syiah Kuala University, Prof. Dr. Ir. Marwan, continued the Ramadan Safari activities at the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences (FMIPA). The meeting took place at the Multipurpose Auditorium of FMIPA USK on Tuesday, March 26, 2024. Also present during the visit were Vice Rector for Academic Affairs Prof. Dr. Ir. Agussabti, M.Si., IPU., Vice Rector for Student Affairs and Entrepreneurship Prof. Dr. Mustanir, M.Sc, and other USK officials.

The Dean of FMIPA USK, Prof. Dr. Taufik Fuadi Abidin, S.Si, M.Tech, in his address, briefly reported on the developments and issues within FMIPA such as the Faculty along with new study programs recently submitting the OBE curriculum, the increasing number of faculty members which has now reached 174. Likewise, the occurring issues, seen from the educational staff of FMIPA, many are nearing retirement age, some have passed P3K and resigned, while there have been no new appointments of educational staff for several years. Additionally, issues regarding the function of the building were highlighted, such as infrastructure and leaky buildings that need to be addressed promptly to prevent further spread. The Dean also added that standard rates for services and the use of lab equipment should be proposed to broaden its reach and transparency, followed by the Integrity Zone issue, which is currently pending due to incomplete TLHP.
The Dean’s report was promptly responded to by the USK Rector. Regarding educational staff, USK is in the process of establishing regulations for contract staff at USK to promptly become university employees, for buildings, said Prof. Marwan, the university has been trying as optimally as possible to resolve them. Buildings that appear beautiful and contemporary like now, are not detached from the efforts to evaluate from the initial design, so in the future, there must be a clearer concept.
In his speech, the Rector explained that in 2024, the implementation of the Independent Learning Campus (MBKM) program at this campus could be enhanced. The MBKM program is actually very good because it aims to prepare USK graduates who are ready to work, or able to create job opportunities. In 2024, USK was also allocated 100 entrepreneurship and digital talent slots.
Finally, Prof. Marwan expressed appreciation for the faculty’s achievements, as many study program accreditations have been excellent. The Rector hopes that these achievements can be maintained and further improved, as they have a significant impact on the growth of USK.
At the end of the Ramadan Safari event, the Dean introduced FMIPA’s new website, designed using Multilingual Design to support FMIPA USK towards the Global, https://fmipa.usk/ac.id. The USK Rector appreciated this breakthrough and officially launched the new website.
