Emil Riza Leads BEM FMIPA Unsyiah

Emil Riza Pratama, student of the Biology study program, Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences (FMIPA) Syiah Kuala University (Unsyiah), was officially appointed as chairman of the FMIPA Student Executive Board (BEM) by The dean of the faculty, Dr. TM Iqbalsyah, M.Sc, last Monday (28/2) afternoon in the FMIPA Unsyiah Hall. This inauguration was also witnessed by the Vice Chancellor for Student and Alumni Affairs, Dr. Ir. Alfiansyah Yulianur, BC, deputy deans for student affairs and alumni in Unsyiah, as well as other officials. Emil was inaugurated along with 134 other students who were trusted to be administrators of BEM FMIPA Unsyiah.

The inauguration of the 2017 BEM management was carried out based on the Decree of the Dean of FMIPA Unsyiah Number 6 of 2017. Emil will lead BEM FMIPA for the next year. Previously, BEM FMIPA was led by Reza Fahlevi, a final year student in the Mathematics study program. This inauguration is a follow-up to the election of Emil Riza in the BEM FMIPA election last December 2016.

Apart from BEM, on this occasion new Chairs and administrators were also inaugurated for three Faculty Student Activity Units (UKM), namely the Baracuda Nature Lovers Student UKM, chaired by Arian Dwi Putra, UKM Seuramoe Seni, chaired by Aditya Pranata, as well as the Ulul Albab Faculty Da’wah Institute UKM, chaired by Muhammad Rayyan Syahputra.

The Dean of FMIPA, Iqbalsyah, in his speech said that it is time for students to no longer take student activities for granted. Because based on facts in the field, it turns out that the soft skills competencies obtained by students through various extra and co-curricular activities actually play a greater role in the success of graduates in the world of work. Iqbal hopes that students will be able to learn to work together in teams through various student activities. (i’m)
