New Student Admission for Master’s Programs at FMIPA USK 2024 Shifts in Interest and Stable Enrollment

Banda Aceh, July 31, 2024 — The new student admission for the Master’s programs at the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences (FMIPA) of Universitas Syiah Kuala (USK) in 2024 shows high enthusiasm, especially in the Master’s Program in Artificial Intelligence, while other study programs remain stable.

Surge in Applications for AI Master’s Program

The Master’s Program in Artificial Intelligence (AI) has seen a significant increase in the number of applicants in 2024. One of the main factors driving this surge is the Kominfo scholarship, which has successfully attracted many prospective students.

The Dean of FMIPA USK, Prof. Dr. Taufik Fuadi Abidin, S.Si, M.Tech, stated, “Artificial Intelligence is a highly sought-after field nowadays, in line with the ever-evolving industry needs. The Kominfo scholarship provides a great opportunity for students to access higher education in this area.”

Stability in Other Study Programs

Other study programs at FMIPA USK, such as Chemistry, Biology, physics, and Mathematics, have shown more stable registration trends. Despite minor fluctuations, the number of applicants remains within the expected range.

The Vice Dean for Academic Affairs, Dr. Nasrullah Zaini, S.Si, M.Si, M.Sc, commented, “This stability indicates that our study programs have a consistent base of interest. We continually strive to enhance their appeal through improvements in curriculum quality and facilities.”

Series of Admission Activities

The new student admission process for the Master’s programs at FMIPA USK took place from May 14 to July 30, 2024, with the following stages:

  • May 14 – July 15, 2024: Payment of registration fees through Bank BSI and online registration at usk.ac.id.
  • July 18, 2024: Printing of exam cards containing the UTBK schedule information via usk.ac.id.
  • July 22 – 23, 2024: Computer-Based Written Test (UTBK) for Academic Potential Test (TPA) and English Proficiency Test (TKBI) at UPT TIK.
  • July 24, 2024: Online exam for participants outside Aceh via Zoom meeting and USK online exam application.
  • July 25, 2024: Offline interviews.
  • July 26, 2024: Online interviews via Zoom meeting.
  • July 30, 2024: Announcement of results on usk.ac.id.
