SendTheSong, a digital platform with a unique concept of sending anonymous messages through music, has become a global phenomenon. This platform allows users to express their feelings and stories indirectly, especially for those who find it difficult to open up about their emotions. True to its tagline, “a bunch of the untold words, sent through the song,” users can add a song that matches the message or the recipient, making the message more personal and emotional.
The platform has rapidly gained popularity and has become a go-to choice for users wishing to express their emotions anonymously. For the message recipients, the experience is both unique and mysterious, as they search for their names on SendTheSong. Messages may appear that are seemingly meant for them, but with no certainty, creating an intense sense of curiosity.
Interestingly, SendTheSong initially started as a side project developed by Muhammad Razan Fawwaz, a graduate of the Informatics Department at FMIPA Universitas Syiah Kuala. Originally designed as a weekend activity, the platform went viral after being introduced on TikTok, quickly gaining wide attention both locally and internationally. In fact, the platform saw a surge in users from the Philippines, making it the second-largest traffic contributor after Indonesia. Its popularity continued to rise after becoming a trending topic on Twitter (X), with major social media accounts further amplifying SendTheSong’s reach.

Currently, SendTheSong’s site has recorded more than 8 million visits, with 6 million unique visitors. The platform continues to grow, supported by a community of developers offering advice and support to improve the site architecture, scale its capacity, and ensure the platform can handle high traffic.
Razan acknowledges that the idea for SendTheSong came spontaneously, as a solution to express feelings or messages to someone without direct contact. Despite facing technical challenges such as server downtime and database issues, support from the developer community on social media has been crucial in overcoming these obstacles.
Campus Pride
Prof. Dr. Taufik Fuadi Abidin, S.Si, M.Tech, Dean of FMIPA Universitas Syiah Kuala, expressed his pride in this innovative creation. “The remarkable creativity of FMIPA-USK Informatics alumni like Razan proves that the nation’s youth are capable of creating world-recognized works,” he said. The Dean hopes that SendTheSong will inspire other students and alumni to continue creating and competing globally.
In the last 72 hours, the SendTheSong site (sendthesong.xyz) recorded a significant surge in visits, with a total of 80.01 million page views, a remarkable figure with an increase of 808.45%! Users showed high engagement, accessing multiple pages during a single visit. Although the average loading time increased by 21.21% to 400 ms due to the traffic spike, the overall performance of the site remained strong. Several improvements will be made to maintain visual stability and site interactivity.

Server optimization or the use of a Content Delivery Network (CDN) is essential to maintain loading speed and enhance the user experience, which continues to rise. Regular performance monitoring will greatly assist SendTheSong in maintaining high user satisfaction.
Razan also wants to express his gratitude to several individuals who played a key role in the development of SendTheSong. First, Mas Rubi (@rubi1945 on Twitter), the creator of lokal.so and akselerasi.ai, whose technical expertise helped improve the app’s architecture. Mas Rubi provided valuable feedback, assisted in the app’s bug fixing, and contributed to the app’s scaling process, ensuring SendTheSong can smoothly serve an increasing number of users.
Next, Mas Gilang Januar, the owner of Solopreneur Club, who became a place for Razan to ask questions and engage in discussions. Mas Gilang offered invaluable insights at every step of the SendTheSong development process, helping Razan expand his perspective in dealing with both technical and strategic challenges in building the platform.
Finally, Mas Hanif Azhary, the former CTO of Bersinar, who also played a crucial role in the platform’s development. With his deep experience in the tech world, Mas Hanif assisted in server setup, technical discussions regarding the app, and provided effective solutions for improving and optimizing app performance.
Without the support of these three individuals, SendTheSong might not have grown as quickly. Razan’s gratitude to them is immense, and they have become an essential part of the platform’s success, which is now recognized worldwide. With the help of these experts, SendTheSong can continue to grow and provide the best experience for its users.
