Two FMIPA-USK Students are Joining the AI-SE Winter School in Qatar

Banda Aceh, January 17, 2025 – Muhammad Habil Aswad and Furqan Ramadhan, students from the Department of Informatics at FMIPA Universitas Syiah Kuala (USK), have been selected to participate in the prestigious AI-SE Winter School organized by the University of Doha Science and Technology (UDST), Qatar, from January 17 to 25, 2025.

This prestigious program includes intensive training, panel discussions, and interactive workshops designed to deepen participants’ understanding of the latest topics in Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Software Engineering (SE). Participants will have the opportunity to learn directly from international experts and expand their global networks with students and professionals from various countries.

The program is fully supported by UDST, covering registration fees, accommodation, transportation, and other expenses to facilitate participants’ activities during their stay in Qatar. This support allows participants to focus entirely on academic activities and skill development.

The participation of FMIPA-USK students in this program is the result of a collaborative initiative led by USK Rector, Prof. Dr. Ir. Marwan, during his visit to UDST Doha in late 2023. This initiative was subsequently followed up by FMIPA-USK, paving the way for fruitful collaborations benefitting the students.

During the event, Habil and Furqan will attend academic presentations on the application of Machine Learning technologies and interactive workshops focused on the development of Generative Pretrained Transformers (GPT). The agenda is designed to encourage the exchange of ideas and experiences, open opportunities for cross-country collaboration, and strengthen global connections in the technology field.

The Dean of FMIPA-USK, Prof. Dr. Taufik Fuadi Abidin, S.Si, M.Tech, expressed his appreciation for the achievements of the two students. “The participation of FMIPA-USK students in international programs like this is tangible proof of the quality and capabilities of our young generation in competing on a global scale. We are immensely proud and remain committed to supporting the development of our students through various international opportunities,” he said.

He added, “FMIPA-USK will continue to support the International Student Mobility initiative, which is an essential program for encouraging students to broaden their horizons and gain global experience.”

The participation of Muhammad Habil Aswad and Furqan Ramadhan also reflects USK’s commitment to producing outstanding human resources capable of competing on a global stage. This aligns with USK’s vision of becoming a world-class university.

It is hoped that the experiences gained from the AI-SE Winter School will make a positive contribution to technological advancements in Indonesia while inspiring other students to continue achieving excellence on the global stage.
