In commemoration of the 80th Anniversary of the Republic of Indonesia, Seulawah Merah Putih together with nature lovers’ organizations (Mapala) across Aceh held a joint expedition and flag-raising ceremony on Mount Seulawah Agam. This activity aimed to foster a spirit of unity and nationalism among Acehnese youth, especially the nature lover communities.
The joint expedition was participated in by dozens of climbers from various Mapala communities in Aceh, including Mapala Artancala, UKM-PA Barracuda FMIPA USK, UKM PAL Caniva-51 USK, Mapala STIK, Mapala SMaK Banda Aceh, UKM PA-LH Metalik FEB USK, UKM PA-LH Pandayana, Hiwapatala Aceh, MACILA Aceh Besar, UKM-PA UMPAL, Mapala Unmuha Banda Aceh, Mapala FKIP USK, UKM-PA Edelweis, Mapala Hukum USK, Macopala IAIN Langsa, UKM Disaster Management, UKM PA-LH GAINPALA Ar-Raniry, IKAPALA Aceh, and Mapala Jabal Everest. They carried out the ascent to the summit of Mount Seulawah Agam while bringing along the Indonesian Red-and-White flag.
The expedition took place from Friday, August 15, 2025, to Sunday, August 17, 2025, hosted by Mapala STIK Tengku Chik Pante Kulu Banda Aceh. This activity was not merely an ordinary climbing event but also a tribute to the heroes who fought for Indonesia’s independence. By carrying the Red-and-White flag to the mountaintop, the participants hoped to strengthen the spirit of nationalism and deepen the love for the homeland.
The theme of the 80th Independence Day of the Republic of Indonesia is “United and Sovereign, Prosperous People, Advanced Indonesia.” This theme was chosen as it aligns with the nation’s grand vision and represents the direction of the nation’s struggle. With this theme, it is hoped that public awareness and participation in nation-building can be further strengthened.
Through this activity, it is also expected to foster stronger bonds of friendship among climbers and Mapala communities across Aceh, while enhancing the spirit of togetherness and nationalism in commemorating Indonesia’s 80th Independence Day.
