University Ramadan Safari Strengthens Communication and Highlights Academic Development

Thursday 5, 2026 – The Ramadan Safari, which is routinely conducted by the university leadership, was once again held as an opportunity for strengthening ties as well as a forum for communication between the university leadership and the academic community. On this occasion, the Ramadan Safari was held jointly by the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences (FMIPA) and the Faculty of Marine and Fisheries (FKP).

During the event, FMIPA presented various academic achievements that have been attained in recent years. Currently, FMIPA has 16 study programs, with notable accreditation achievements. A total of 11 study programs have obtained Excellent accreditation, 4 study programs are accredited Very Good, and 1 study program is still in its first accreditation stage.

The Dean of FMIPA, Prof. Dr. Taufik Fuadi Abidin, S.Si., M. Tech., stated that these achievements are the result of collective efforts by the entire academic community within FMIPA.

“Alhamdulillah, currently FMIPA has 16 study programs with the majority having obtained excellent accreditation. This is the result of the hard work of our lecturers, administrative staff, and students. Moving forward, we remain committed to improving academic quality and preparing ourselves for international accreditation,” he said.

He also explained that there are plans to restructure study programs within the faculty. One of the strategic steps that will be taken is the closure of the Electronics Engineering Study Program, which will then be followed by the opening of a new undergraduate study program within the Department of Physics as part of academic development.

In addition, FMIPA is currently preparing for international accreditation and institutional accreditation (AL) which is scheduled to take place in May 2026. In this preparation process, several important issues have become the main focus, namely the return of lecturers’ homebase alignment, the resolution of credit (SKS) issues in the feeder system, and the challenge faced by young lecturers in obtaining the functional academic rank of Assistant Expert (AA).

Furthermore, FMIPA is also preparing the establishment of a Master’s Program (S2) in Pharmaceutical Sciences and an Undergraduate Program (S1) in Environmental Science as part of strengthening academic and scientific development.

Meanwhile, the Dean of the Faculty of Marine and Fisheries (FKP), Prof. Dr. Ir. Muchlisin Z.A., S.Pi., M.Sc, on the same occasion also conveyed plans for the development of new study programs within FKP. However, he emphasized that the development process still faces several challenges, particularly related to the arrangement of lecturers’ homebase.

“We are also preparing several new study programs in FKP. However, one of the challenges we still face is adjusting and organizing the lecturers’ homebase so that it aligns with the academic fields required for the new programs to be established,” he explained.

According to him, this arrangement is crucial to ensure that each study program has adequate lecturer resources and meets the academic requirements that have been set.

Meanwhile, the Rector of the university, Prof. Dr. Ir. Marwan, in his remarks emphasized that the Ramadan Safari is not merely a gathering activity, but also a momentum to strengthen communication between the university leadership and the faculties.

“This Ramadan Safari serves as a space to discuss, share achievements, and also listen to the various challenges faced by the faculties. The university will certainly continue to support the strategic steps taken by each faculty in improving academic quality and institutional governance,” he said.

He also expressed appreciation for the various achievements obtained by FMIPA as well as the development plans currently being prepared by faculties within the university.

“The excellent accreditation achieved by many study programs is an important asset for the university to continue growing. We hope that the various plans for developing new study programs and the efforts toward international accreditation will proceed smoothly,” he added.

On the same occasion, the Vice Rector for Resources and Finance, Prof. Dr. Ir. Marwan, M.Si., also delivered information regarding employee welfare, particularly concerning the Holiday Allowance (THR) and employee appointment decrees (SK).

“The university understands the expectations of employees regarding the disbursement of THR and the issuance of employee decrees. Currently, the administrative process is ongoing and we are working to ensure that these matters can be completed as soon as possible,” he said.

He emphasized that the university continues to coordinate with related parties so that the administrative process can be finalized promptly and does not hinder the rights of employees.

Through this Ramadan Safari activity, it is hoped that stronger synergy will be established between the university leadership and the faculties in improving the quality of education, research, and community service, while also strengthening the shared commitment to advancing the institution toward higher academic standards.
