Prof. Dr.Eng. Elin Yusibani, S.Si., M.Eng. is a Professor of Physics at the Department of Physics, Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences, Syiah Kuala University. She currently serves as the Coordinator of the Diploma III Electronics Engineering Program and the Master’s Program in Physics. Born in Bandung, Indonesia, in 1979. Prof. Yusibani obtained her Bachelor’s degree in Physics from Bandung Institute of Technology in 2002. She continued her studies in Japan and earned a Master’s degree in Nuclear Engineering from Tokyo Institute of Technology in 2005. She later completed her Doctor of Engineering degree in Mechanical Engineering and Sciences at Kyushu University in 2010.
Throughout her academic career, Prof. Yusibani has steadily progressed through the ranks of Indonesian higher education, culminating in her appointment as a full Professor in 2024. Her expertise spans applied physics, nuclear engineering, thermal-fluid sciences, hydrogen technology, renewable energy, instrumentation, and STEM education. In addition to her academic responsibilities, she has actively contributed to scientific organizations and university leadership. She currently serves as the Chair of the Aceh Branch of the Physical Society of Indonesia and previously served as a member of the Nuclear Division of the national Physical Society of Indonesia. She has also held leadership roles within Syiah Kuala University, including coordinating undergraduate and graduate academic programs.
Prof. Yusibani has continuously enhanced her professional competencies through specialized training and certifications. These include Occupational Health and Safety (OHS/K3), textbook editing and authorship certification, radiation protection, diagnostic and interventional X-ray conformity testing, and advanced teaching methodology programs. Her research contributions have been widely recognized nationally and internationally. She has authored numerous scientific publications in reputable journals covering hydrogen gas viscosity, thermal conductivity measurements, renewable energy development, nuclear reactor simulations, advanced materials, medical imaging applications, coffee science, and engineering technologies. Her work has appeared in internationally recognized journals such as the International Journal of Thermophysics, Experimental Thermal and Fluid Science, Progress in Nuclear Energy, Heliyon, and the Journal of Engineering and Technological Sciences. She has also published several reference books and teaching materials, including works on hydrogen gas viscosity, mathematical physics, coffee characterization, and STEMC (Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics, and Character) education.
Her academic achievements include receiving the Best Paper Presentation Award at the International Student Thesis Competition at Tokyo Institute of Technology in 2005 and another Best Paper Presentation Award at the 7th Aceh International Conference on Sciences and Engineering in 2017. In 2025, she supervised a student team that received a Silver Award at the International Grand Invention, Innovation, and Design Expo organized by the International Islamic University Malaysia. She was also awarded the Indonesian Government’s Ten-Year Service Medal (Satyalancana Karya Satya) in recognition of her dedication to public service. Beyond academia, Prof. Yusibani gained valuable international research experience as a Technical Staff member at the Advanced Industrial Science and Technology (AIST) research institute in Japan, contributing to the HYDROGENIUS Project from 2007 to 2010. She also led the Merdeka Belajar–Kampus Merdeka (MBKM) Program Development Project at Syiah Kuala University during 2021–2022.
