Banda Aceh, August 15, 2024 – The auditorium of the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences (FMIPA) at Universitas Syiah Kuala (USK) witnessed the lively and enthusiastic participation of new students in the Academic and Character Development Program (Pakarmaru). This event marks the beginning of their journey at FMIPA USK.
The event was officially opened by the Dean of FMIPA USK, Prof. Dr. Taufik Fuadi Abidin, S.Si., M.Tech., who emphasized the importance of academic development and character formation for new students as they face the ever-evolving challenges of the educational world.
The morning session was filled with essential material for new students. They were introduced to the learning systems implemented at FMIPA USK and received presentations on entrepreneurship programs and achievements at USK, which serve as inspiration for their personal development. Additionally, students were provided with character-building guidance, which is expected to form a strong foundation for their academic journey. The students also gained insights into USK’s efforts to promote environmental sustainability through the Green Metric program and were informed about various international programs and opportunities available through the Office of International Affairs (OIA) USK.
After the lunch break, the event continued with an introduction to student organizations (Ormawa). In this session, new students were introduced to the various student organizations within FMIPA USK, which are expected to serve as platforms for them to engage in organizational activities and develop themselves outside of academics.
The Pakarmaru event concluded in the afternoon with the formal handover of new students to the respective heads of student associations. This handover process marked the official beginning of their academic journey at FMIPA USK and solidified their place as part of the FMIPA USK family.
