Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia – A group of students from the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences (FMIPA), Universitas Syiah Kuala (USK), are currently participating in the Student Mobility Program at Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM) one of Malaysia’s leading universities ranked within the Top 200 of the QS World University Rankings.
This academic mobility aims to broaden students’ global perspectives, enhance research collaboration, and strengthen cultural understanding between Indonesia and Malaysia.
The Indonesian delegation is accompanied by Prof. Dr. Ichwana, S.T., M.P. and Dr. Alia Rizki, S.Si., M.Sc., who serve as academic supervisors throughout the program. Their involvement underscores USK’s commitment to ensuring that students gain valuable academic and intercultural experiences during their overseas study activities.
The program takes place at UTM’s Faculty of Artificial Intelligence, renowned for its excellence in computer science, data analytics, and emerging digital technologies. Throughout the program, students from FMIPA USK attended lectures and hands-on sessions on information technology advancements, artificial intelligence applications, and the latest trends in digital innovation.

In addition to academic sessions, participants joined a campus tour to explore UTM’s advanced laboratories, innovation centers, and research facilities. This provided students with firsthand insight into how UTM integrates technology, creativity, and research to achieve global academic excellence.
“This program offers a remarkable opportunity for our students to experience international learning in one of the world’s top universities,” said Dr. Alia Rizki, S.Si., M.Sc., lecturer at FMIPA USK and one of the accompanying faculty members.
She continued, “Through this mobility, students not only deepen their understanding of artificial intelligence but also develop a global mindset that will prepare them for future challenges in science and technology.”
The Student Mobility Program between FMIPA USK and UTM also serves as a reciprocal visit, following the earlier participation of UTM Geography students in similar activities at Universitas Syiah Kuala. This ongoing exchange marks a strengthening of academic ties and a shared commitment to advancing cross-border education.
During the program, FMIPA students engage in various interactive sessions, including discussions on the application of AI in sustainable development, collaborative research design, and cultural sharing with Malaysian students.
Prof. Dr. Ichwana, S.T., M.P. expressed appreciation for the warm welcome extended by UTM’s Faculty of Artificial Intelligence. “Programs like this play a strategic role in shaping globally competent graduates. Our students are not only learning new technologies but also understanding how science contributes to society at a global scale,” he remarked.

UTM’s consistent presence in the Top 200 QS World University Rankings reaffirms its international standing and makes it a key partner in USK’s mission to become a world-class university.
Through this initiative, USK continues to promote academic excellence and cross-cultural collaboration that will benefit both institutions and their students.
The program also highlights USK’s dedication to fostering international partnerships and empowering students to be active contributors in global knowledge networks.
As the Student Mobility Program progresses, USK students demonstrate high enthusiasm and curiosity embodying the spirit of young scientists ready to innovate and collaborate across borders.
This initiative aligns with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly Goal 4 (Quality Education) and Goal 17 (Partnerships for the Goals), by promoting inclusive, equitable, and globally connected education for sustainable progress.
